Västerbottensost, also known as Burträskost, is a distinctive hard cheese with a strong aromatic flavor, originating from Sweden. The recipe, created by chance in 1872, is carefully preserved and only produced using milk from Norrland cows at the Norrmejerier dairy in Burträsk. It is matured for at least 14 months and is valued for its versatility, being enjoyed as a spread, dessert, or a flavorful ingredient in both classic and modern cooking.
